Should You Pursue a Second Certification?
In the past, I have discussed the value of becoming CMA-certified, but recently I have received a number of inquiries about becoming both a CMA and CPA. If you are a CMA, the addition of the CPA designation indicates an extra depth to your abilities, showing talent in financial accounting and reporting, auditing, tax, and business law in addition to management accounting. If you have already achieved the CPA certification and are considering the CMA exam, your new certification would augment your skills with a focus on all aspects of internal decision making.

Students Make Great Candidates
Are you a student? Do you know a student who has considered attaining the CMA designation? Certified management accounting professionals earn higher salaries and set themselves apart when applying for a new position or vying for a promotion. If you pass the CMA exam prior to graduation, you will be one step ahead of other recent grads and in a better position for success before you even leave college.

Gleim

Gleim has offered a series of successful study tips to ensure that IMA Chapter members pass the CMA exam on their first attempts. While these tips are useful, it is equally important to know what study habits to avoid. Once a habit forms, it is difficult to break. Recognize bad habits so you learn to avoid them.

What Should You Expect?
In previous articles I have discussed the importance of being certified and all the benefits that come  with the designation, along with provided study tips that will help chapter members prepare for and pass the exam. However, as I talk to CMA candidates, who are at the beginning stages of taking the new 2-part exam or just transitioning from the current 4-part exam to the new 2-part exam, I often hear their concern for the unexpected.

Study Habits to Avoid - Part 2
Last month's article highlighted several bad study habits candidates should avoid when preparing for the CMA exam, such as cramming at the last minute, studying with your bed nearby, and listening to loud music while studying for your exam. This article provides additional habits to avoid picking up from the start to guarantee your success on the exam.
